HUB Happenings - October Edition
The second month of school is in the books! The students are rocking and rolling, and are settling into their schedules nicely.
We are excited to announce that we are offering a new class! We are now offering American Sign Language for middle and high school students on Tuesdays from 2:30-4:00. This class is the standard $100 per month, and can be credit worthy as a foreign language credit if the students continue practicing at home. It is taught by Mr. Jordan Morales, who has been studying and practicing ASL for five years. If you would like to add this class to your student’s schedule, please send us an email (email@example.com) or call us in the office (954-597-6636).
We have also added online tutors to help with high school/college math and science classes! Meet with any of these tutors from the comfort of your home (or we can set you up with them here if you do not have the proper equipment). We currently have three online tutors available: Miss Anne Margaret Smiley, Miss Bridgette Campbell, and Miss Hannah Bayard.
Miss Anne Margaret has a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of South Florida, and is now working towards her Master’s degree in Environmental Science at Florida Gulf Coast University. Her current research is focused on marine biotoxins and identifying trends in toxin production with climate change. Anne Margaret is available to tutor varying levels of math and science for both high school and college students.
Miss Bridgette is a third year material science engineer at the University of Florida and is currently interning at The Tech Toy Box utilizing 3D printers and laser cutters in their research and development lab. She can help your student in Algebra, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Calculus 1-3, Differential Equations, Biology, Chemistry, and other sciences.
Miss Hannah is in her third year of Materials Science & Engineering major, and plans to specialize in Polymer Materials. She has a love for math and science, and can tutor in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Calculus 1-3, Differential Equations, Physics 1&2, and General Chemistry.
A couple of classes were able to go on very food oriented field trips this month!
Miss Lora’s Entrepreneurship class and Miss Sarah’s Health class learned all about the ins and outs of running a bakery business at Sweet Rustic Bake Shop. Sweet Rustic is owned by Neida Billings, the matriarch of a home school family!
Miss Lora’s Junior Chef class was able to visit Texas Roadhouse where they made bread, learned about the various kitchen appliances, and learned what it takes to run a successful restaurant. You can check out the video one our parents made on our Facebook page here.
